Gardener’s Workshop
Install on Meta Quest
Get the workshop from the family
Gardener’s Workshop is a separate Meta Quest 2 prototype, not the browser version of Rift Run. Its APK is not published in a store or on this portal. Ask the family for the APK and help installing it. There is no download link here.
Use your normal headset play boundary. Have a charged Quest 2, both Touch controllers, the phone that manages the headset and a USB data cable. A charge-only cable cannot install the app.
Prepare your account and headset
- Open Meta Horizon on the paired phone. Use the account that manages the headset, including the family parent/admin account when that owns it.
- Complete Meta’s developer-team registration and any account verification it requests. The paired phone account and developer account must match.
- Select the connected headset in Meta Horizon. Open its Headset Settings → Developer Mode and turn it on. Labels can vary by headset and phone version.
- Check the headset for a system update and finish restarting before continuing.
Developer access enables sideloading. You do not need a PC streaming connection to play this standalone APK.
Connect for installation
- Connect the awake, unlocked headset to the family’s installation computer with the data cable.
- In the headset, approve Allow USB debugging for that computer. Only choose Always allow for a computer you trust.
- Leave the headset awake and connected while the family checks the connection and installs the supplied APK. You do not need to build the app or run developer commands.
- If it does not open automatically, look for Gardener’s Workshop VR in the Library’s Unknown Sources view.
The family should update the existing workshop installation without uninstalling it. If an update reports a signature mismatch, stop and keep the existing app.
Your first repair
Enter the workshop from the opening menu. Grip the cream-and-teal power cell, place it in the copper cradle and release it. Hold the trigger at the copper water valve until it is open. Both repairs wake the workshop.
Read Quest Touch controls before wandering. If the room opens flat or tracking feels wrong, stop and tell the family what you saw.
Stop setup
Close the workshop and unplug the cable. If you no longer want Developer Mode enabled, turn it off with the same phone-app switch.
